Man Shares How to Make a Face Shield Using a Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Box

We’ve shared quite a few face mask tutorials and examples of face masks that you can buy online. While that’s all well and good, what if you’re in the market for a face shield?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) does not recommend face shields as a replacement for a face mask, but there are probably still instances when a face shield could come in handy. Face shields can be worn in addition to a mask for extra protection, for example, if you know you are going to be very close to other people. If you are considering wearing a face shield without a face mask, the CDC states that the shield “should wrap around the sides of the wearer’s face and extend to below the chin.”

Perhaps you would like to try out wearing a face shield without paying for one. Maybe you would rather buy a box of doughnuts than a face shield. What if we told you that you could buy a box of doughnuts and then use that box to make your own face shield? Just make sure you go to Krispy Kreme!

Andy Clockwise has posted a DIY face shield video on YouTube that is pretty incredible. All you need is a box from Krispy Kreme, some tape and a pair of scissors.

First, Clockwise demonstrates how to cut the lid of the box to make the face shield. There is a specific way you will need to fold the box, so pay close attention. He wraps the modified box around his face and shows viewers how to cut slits in the box so that the face shield is perfectly fitted to your face.

This DIY shield seems to meet the CDC’s recommendations of being below the chin and wrapped around the sides of the face. Bonus, it probably also smells like doughnuts!

Watch the video below to see how easy this Krispy Kreme face shield is to make.

Viewers are loving this video. One comment reads, “I work for Krispy Kreme and this is making the rounds in the office. Laughs galore. Dunkin can’t do this…”

Another viewer commented, “Good old-fashioned American ingenuity!”

I don’t know about you, but this video makes me want to go to Krispy Kreme stat.
