Exhausted Mom of 12 Who Says Life Is Out of Control Gets Pregnant With #13

Raising children is not exactly easy. It’s stressful and takes a lot of time, but as parents, we know that it’s worth every single second.

Most American families have about 2 children, but there are some parents who choose to have a lot more than 2 children. Michelle and Rod have 13 children.

In 2018, when Michelle was pregnant with her 13th child, the couple and their children went on the Dr. Phil show to discuss their family and to ask for help.

Michelle found it incredibly stressful and chaotic raising all of the children pretty much on her own. Not only was she taking care of the children, but she was also homeschooling them.

Michelle was surprised when she found out that she was pregnant with baby number 13. She actually thought she was in menopause. She was even more surprised when she found out the high likelihood that her 13th baby would have downs syndrome. She had no idea how she was going to raise a child with special needs in addition to all the other challenges of her already-chaotic household.

Watch the video below to learn more about Michelle and Rod’s story and Dr. Phil’s advice for them.

Even though Dr. Phil advised Michelle to stop homeschooling his children, he shared in another video that he is in no way against homeschooling. Michelle and Rod find themselves in an odd situation where there is simply not enough time left for Michelle to spend homeschooling her children.

As you might be able to tell from the videos above, the bulk of the job raising the children falls to Michelle. Rod works up to 100 hours a week and hardly spends any time at all with his children. He regrets it and knows that he wasn’t the best dad.

We can’t imagine what it would be like to raise 13 children. We only know that it would be challenging. Michelle and Rod’s children hope that they won’t have any more siblings after this 13th baby. One of their daughters told Dr. Phil, “I don’t think my parents should have any more children after this one and they should focus on the ones they already have.”
