When Jill Martin, style expert for the Today Show, was scouring the crowds outside of their New York City studio, she couldn’t help but be drawn to two women holding a poster. The poster was of the two ladies, only they were drawn in caricature like Hoda and Kathie Lee, and it was laminated to boot! So impressed by the lengths these women went to, Jill chose them for the Ambush Makeover everyone was dying to get.

As it turns out, the 52-year-old women are best friends, separated by 2,000 miles. Since meeting in their teens, the ladies make an effort to see each other at least once a year, which we think is a true, amazing tribute to true friendship

This year the BFFs decided to take a trip to The Big Apple! This was Oklahoma mom Annie’s first trip to New York City and she brought her husband Brad and their kids, Hannah and Chandler, along for the trip.

When Jill asked why they went to such lengths to get these makeovers, best friend Aura had the sweetest reply.

“Well, we’ve been best friends for 30 years and no one deserves a makeover more than my friend Annie!”

After this sweet sentiment, Annie was chosen to get her makeover first.

Fast forward a few hours and we’re in the Today Show studio with Annie’s two kids and her husband. The family has been blindfolded so they can’t see Annie until she’s come out onto the set and they’re instructed to take a peek.

We have to say, as soon as she came into view our jaws dropped! Her long hair has been chopped to a stylish asymmetric bob, with longer pieces in the front and a short, choppy back. The “harsh” brown of her hair has been lightened with some honey highlights and her face is glowing in some natural makeup.

But if we were taken aback, you have to imagine the reaction her family had. The minute they saw Annie, they were all beaming! Her kids looked over-the-moon at how stunning their mom looked and husband Brad even began to tear up! So incredibly sweet.

Brad would go on to tell their love story to the hosts, all the while staring at a teary-eyed Annie. It’s so touching, we’re tearing up just thinking about it.

Naturally, the fun isn’t over. Aura still has to come out for her big makeover reveal, too! We won’t give too much more away, but let’s just say this will down as the most epic best friends’ trip EVER.
