There are a lot of wonderful things that come along with the process of aging — but there are also a lot of not-so-wonderful things that accompany growing older, as well. Besides all the aches and pains that come with this transition, one of those things is, very often, the effect this has on our own self-esteem.

After decades of loving how you look, some people find it difficult to love their bodies after it’s gone through so many changes. But just because your hair and face have changed somewhat doesn’t mean that you can’t feel good about how you look!

Take this lovely lady, Jean, for example — she took her negative feeling towards her appearance and did something positive to change how she felt. And how did she pull this off? With the help of Christopher Hopkins, The Makeover Guy himself.

When Jean sat down in Christopher’s chair, he starts off by asking why she wants a new look for herself. Her answer is immediate and very relatable:

“I feel old, I look old, I am old,” Jean says matter-of-factly.

Chuckingly, Christopher assures her that he and his team can change those feelings, no problem.

They begin by choosing the shade of brown they’re going to transition her hair back to, a very similar shade to her natural color. Then they hide her “sparkles” (a.k.a. her grays) and begin dying her hair to the selected medium brown.

Her hair has become shaggy, with at least a few inches of brittle hair; Jean confessed at the start of the episode that she doesn’t spend nearly as much time on hair upkeep as she used to. But with those inches taken off and her hair styled into a stunning, curly bob, she starts getting excited about the prospect of taking care of her hair!

The cherry on top of the perfect dye job and the lovely cut is the makeup they use. With a little light foundation, eye shadow, mascara, and a very flattering lip color, Jean looks 10 years younger and absolutely beautiful.

As always with these incredible makeovers, the best part is seeing how the subject glows after they’re done. You can just see how happy she is with the new look, how beautiful she now KNOWS she is! Her confidence is practically beaming out of her.
