Here’s a Look Inside Ellen DeGeneres’ Tearful Final Episode
After 19 seasons, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” is officially over. Ellen filmed her final episode last month, and it aired yesterday, May 26, 2022.
It was an emotional ending to a show that literally changed the trajectory of DeGenerous’ career. Back in 1997, when DeGenerous publicly came out, her career took a nose dive. The success of her talk show changed everything.
During the very first episode of her show, DeGeneres told the audience, “Thank you. I so appreciate the support, and it’s been really hard to convince people that I can, you know, do a daytime show and be this person that I know that I am and that I’ve always tried to be. … This is a huge thing for me, and I’m so happy doing it.”
She certainly proved that she was up to the job of having her own talk show, and on her final episode, she echoed the words of her first episode, thanking the audience. She said, “To all of you who have watched me and supported me, thank you so much for this platform.”
DeGeneres also thanked the show’s crew saying, “You surrounded me with so much love and so much support. You nurtured me and you found a way to make me shine brighter than I could do it by myself. You helped me be my best. I love you more than I can possibly say.”
There were three guests on DeGeneres’ final episode. One was her friend Jennifer Aniston who was also a guest on the very first episode of DeGeneres’ talk show. Billie Eilish also stopped by, and Pink performed the song, “What About Us.”
