Dunkin Donuts Has Released DIY Donut Decorating Kits for At-Home Fun

Whether you’re a parent trying desperately to entertain their children in the midst of a global health crisis, or just someone who loves donuts, Dunkin Donuts has answered your prayers with their latest pandemic-friendly creation.

The donut franchise has just released its very own DIY donut decorating kit so that you can make your own donut creations at home. This is especially useful if you’re missing all your morning donut runs but are in no way, shape, or form a good baker (props to everyone making homemade bread during this time!).

Right now, Dunkin stores are limited to the drive-thru and carry-out orders at the moment, so this is yet another way to get your Dunkin fix. Each donut decorating kit contains its very own set of plain Dunkin donuts, a host of frosting flavors, and a variety of sprinkles, all so that you can make a donut creation all your own—and enjoy it in the comfort of your own home.

“The reality of this experience has set in, and we know it’s not going anywhere anytime soon,” said franchise owner, Matt Cobo, who also happens to be a father of three. “Like most parents, we were looking for ways to entertain our kids and bring a little levity to this situation.”

The idea for the DIY donut decorating kit began when an employee in California named Norma Valkenaar brought home some donuts, frosting, and sprinkles to her young nephews and saw how much joy it brought them. Not long after, the location where Norma worked began to offer these kits to the public.

The kits were such a hit that Cabo’s sister actually began to drop off some of these DIY kits to friends and family who she wanted to surprise. She’d leave the kit on their doorstep, ring the doorbell, and then text them saying, “You’ve been Dunk’d!” (Hint, hint—everyone loved receiving these, and if you don’t want to decorate donuts yourself, this might be a great way to make someone’s day amid this pandemic!)

“This is our small way of trying to brighten someone’s day,” Cabo stated. “The simple joy of getting to create your own donut can make kids light up, and if we can be a part of creating that moment, that makes us happy.”

Only select locations are selling the DIY donut decorating kit, so be sure to call up your local franchise to see if they offer it before making your way over.

How awesome are these DIY donut decorating kits? Do you know any kids (or even an adult friend) who would like to decorate donuts while they’re stuck at home?
