Cream Cheese Frosting

- ½ cup butter, room temperature
- 2 – 8-ounce packages cream cheese, room temperature
- 8 cups (2 pounds) powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- In a large bowl of a stand mixer, or with a hand mixer, cream together the softened butter and cream cheese.
- Slowly add the powdered sugar to the butter-cream mixture and beat until well-incorporated.
- Add the vanilla extract, and continue to beat until the frosting is light and fluffy.
- Store the cream cheese frosting in the refrigerator until ready to use. Frosted cakes and cupcakes should be refrigerated as well, until ready to serve.
