Chadwick Boseman Loses Out on Best Actor Award in a Stunning End to an Otherwise Predictable Oscar Ceremony

If you didn’t stay up to watch the Oscars last night, no worries. We have you covered. The winners were somewhat predictable, but there was one very notable upset.

Chadwick Boseman was definitely the fan favorite to win Best Actor. After rising to fame at The Black Panther, Boseman went on to star in the film “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.” Unfortunately, he lost his battle with cancer in August 2020.

Not only was Boseman’s Oscar-nominated performance incredible, but the late actor had already won a couple awards for his role including a Golden Globe and a Critic’s Choice Award. Everyone thought he would win an Academy Award for his role too, but he didn’t.

Anthony Hopkins, who didn’t even attend the award’s ceremony, won Best Actor for his role in “The Father.” While Hopkins is definitely a great actor, many of Boseman’s fans think that the award was given to the wrong person. Watch the video below for more details.

The other big Oscar news is the huge success of the film “Nomandland.” The film won a total of three awards. Frances McDormand won Best Actress for her role in the film. It was her third Academy Award. Chloé Zhao won Best Director, which is historic because she is the first woman of color to ever win that award. Then the film took home the final award of the night, Best Picture.
