Australian chef Bill Granger is best known for inventing avocado toast and introducing it to the world; however, that is not the only recipe he has invented. He was also considered the “King of Breakfast” for his many innovative and delicious recipes.

Now, Granger’s family has announced the sad news of his death at age 54. In a post on Granger’s Instagram, his family wrote, “It is with great sadness that the family of Bill Granger announce he has passed away on 25th December at the age of 54.”

While many people remember Granger for his food, his family remembers him as “a dedicated husband and father.” His family was with him at the time of his death, which was in a hospital in London, where he lived with his family. Originally, he was from Melbourne, Australia.

Granger’s cooking career lasted for more than 30 years, and he didn’t have any professional training. He was completely self-taught. Granger’s family shared his many accomplishments, writing, “In 1999, he and his wife Natalie began a professional partnership that launched the business globally. Together they built a successful business that today has 19 restaurants across Sydney, London, Greater Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka and Seoul. Bill authored 14 cookbooks, made 5 TV series and most recently was honoured with the Medal of the Order of Australia in January 2023.”

Breakfast was his speciality. His family explained that he was “The King of Breakfast,” and his cooking style involved “making unpretentious food into something special filled with sunshine.” They ended the post by writing, “He will be deeply missed by all, with his loss most profoundly felt by his adored family, who are grateful for all the love and support that has been given.”

Granger is survived by his wife and children.
