There are people out in the world doing great work and don’t even realize how they’re inspiring millions. Today, we’re highlighting a person who is doing something pretty darn cool for shelter animals.

A special shout out goes to Mr. Terry Lauerman for all the naps and cuddles he’s providing for sanctuary cats. He is a volunteer at Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary in Green Bay, Wisconsin, an organization that cares for cats who are older or have special needs. They are also cage-free!

A photo of Terry and some cats napping together was posted on Safe Haven’s Facebook page and went viral to everyone’s surprise. In the caption, it said that Terry came in a few months ago, wanting to volunteer to help brush cats.

“We are so lucky to have a human like Terry. Terry just came along one day and introduced himself. He said he’d like to brush cats. Eventually it became everyday. He brushes all of the cats, and can tell you about all of their likes and dislikes. He also accidentally falls asleep most days. We don’t mind – Cats need this! Terry is a wonderful volunteer.”

How can you not love this? The photos have been viewed over 3,000,000 times, with hits on Reddit, news outlets, and Facebook. When the shelter told Terry about his popularity, he expressed he’s not interested in fame – or the complicated world of social media – and would rather people donate to the sanctuary.

Because of the post, Safe Haven doubled their goal of $1,000 and said they met their goal for the year. However, they also have a charity page through Amazon if people want to donate items to the facility.

Thanks to Terry’s cat naps, Safe Haven’s work has grown a huge following. The cats are rescued, loved on, and cared for until they are adopted out. If you’re inspired by Terry to donate, you can visit the fundraising page here!
