Carrie Underwood has been a household name since 2005 when she won American Idol. In the past 15 years, she has been the GRAMMY® Award winner 7 times, the CMA® Female Vocalist of the Year 5 times, and just recently, she tied as the winner for 2020 ACM® Entertainer of the Year.
If you’re wondering what’s next for Underwood, it’s the release of her very first full-length Christmas album titled “The Gift.” This Christmas album releases September 25th, and it will also be available on vinyl on October 30th.
Underwood’s Christmas album will include some new songs as well as her take on traditional religious favorites, but there’s more.
Along with the album, Underwood is also partnering with HBO Max for a very special Christmas special where she will perform songs from The Gift.
Sarah Aubrey, the head of original content at HBO Max, said, “Carrie Underwood is a multi-faceted talent and we are thrilled to be partnering with her and our friends at Playtone to bring a dose of holiday cheer.”
The Christmas special will be produced by Playtone’s executive producers Gary Goetzman and Tom Hanks as well as Underwood and her manager, Ann Edelblute. The special has not started filming yet, but plans are for production to start this fall.
Underwood is excited about the upcoming special. She said, “The journey of writing and recording this album started last year when I finished my tour and we could have never anticipated the circumstances we would be in this year. Creating this album has been good for my heart and I’m thrilled to get to share it with the world and to bring it to life with Playtone and HBO Max.”
