Just because we’re counting down the days to summer doesn’t mean that we’re not looking forward to Christmas too. No, we’re not wishing the year away. We just love all the holiday cheer, family traditions, food and movies.
When it comes to Christmas movies, we stay tuned to Hallmark Channel. This year, 2019, marks the 10th year that Hallmark Channel will be doing their Countdown to Christmas, and in honor of the tradition, where they release new, original movies and favorite Christmas movies from years past, Hallmark Channel will be releasing more brand new movies than ever before.
Last year, Hallmark Channel released 36 new movies, but this year even tops that with a total of 40 new movies across Hallmark Channel and their sister network, Hallmark Movies and Mysteries.
There are a couple things we always expect from a good Hallmark movie. The plot will be something along the lines of city girl moves to small town and falls in love with the local country guy. Sure, there are a few movies that deviate from this formula or reverse it where it’s the guy who travels from the city to the small, country town, but most of the stories are along these lines.
We also expect to see some of our favorite actresses and actors who are Hallmark Channel regulars. Don’t expect to see Lori Loughlin this season, but we already know that Kristin Chenoweth and Scott Wolf are set to star in “The Christmas Song.” We’re also looking forward to seeing Melissa Claire Egan and Marc Blucas star in “Holiday for Heroes.”
Now we know that another one of our favorite actresses, “Fuller House” star Candace Cameron Bure, will be starring in a movie called “Christmas Town.” This will be her 8th Christmas movie for Hallmark Channel.
“Christmas Town” is based on a book by author Donna VanLiere who also wrote “The Christmas Shoes” and “The Christmas Hope.”
The movie is about a woman named Lauren Gabriel who leaves Boston and ends up in the small town of Grandon Falls. Tim Rozon will play Travis, the male lead. He’s the small town guy who gives Lauren a ride from the train station. Then there’s a character named Betty, who will be played by Beth Broderick. She’s a waitress at the town’s diner who helps Lauren adjust to life in Grandon Falls.
If you can’t wait until Christmas to watch this movie, you could always pick up a copy from Amazon and add it to your summer reading list.
Are you looking forward to Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas? Does it surprise you that Candace Cameron Bure has been in so many of their Christmas movies?
