If you’re nervous that a box mix just isn’t “nice” enough for whatever event you’re going to, you couldn’t be more wrong. The great thing about this technique is that you don’t need a terrible amount of baking skill to pull off this beautiful dessert! You can easily make this in a hurry and the presentation is absolutely lovely. Make sure to customize to whatever cake mix and frosting you prefer, and you can easily choose any berries that happen to be in season.

– 2 boxes of any cake mix
– Frosting
– Any berries
– A cake stand
– A chocolate bar (optional)

STEP 1: Bake any cake mix you’d like in two 9 inch pans.
STEP 2: Cut one cake in half and put it on your cake stand.
STEP 3: Take a hearty helping of icing and frost the top of your first layer.
STEP 4: Add a layer of berries.
STEP 5: Repeat until you’re out of cake!
STEP 6: Frost the top layer and finish off with some decorative berries and chocolate curls.

And just like that, you’ve taken something basic and turned it into something delectably fancy. And you didn’t have to be a baker to make this rustic, beautiful dessert.
