Most singers acquire fans who love not only their voice, but everything they bring to the table—and that usually includes fashion. For Billie Eilish, people were always really into her relaxed vibe. She made her claim to fame making oversized sweatshirts and baggy pants look amazing.

However, that isn’t so great for Eilish, who doesn’t always want to be known by her aesthetic. In fact, she decided to change up her style in a recent Instagram post, which upset quite a few of her fans.

In the photo, Eilish rocked a form-fitting corset with a lace bra underneath. And while she looks incredible, fans sometimes really don’t do well with change. In fact, Eilish vented to Elle magazine that the photo alone caused quite a few people to unfollow her and that they might be a little “scared” of what she was portraying.

“People hold on to these memories and have an attachment. But it’s very dehumanizing,” Eilish told the magazine. “I lost 100,000 followers, just because of the boobs. People are scared of big boobs.”

This isn’t the first time the singer has tried to change up her style with backlash to boot. But Eilish has a few choice words for these people. In an interview with British Vogue, she said that she refuses to dress a certain way just because that’s what fans want. This is her life and she was gong to live it how she pleases. The magazine published a photo of her in a similar get-up, showing more skin than her fans were used to.

“Suddenly you’re a hypocrite if you want to show your skin, and you’re easy and you’re a slut and you’re a whore,” she said to Vogue. “If I am, then I’m proud. Me and all the girls are hoes, and f**k it, y’know? Let’s turn it around and be empowered in that. Showing your body and showing your skin – or not – should not take any respect away from you.”

And, let’s not forget what the singer wore to the Met Gala in September—a glamorous blush ball gown, with hair and makeup inspired by Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly.

“I’ve always wanted to do this but I was just scared and I didn’t feel comfortable in my skin and I feel like I finally did. I feel like I’ve grown so much in the last few years.”

As as singer, do you think it’s acceptable to change up your style? What do you think of Billie Eilish’s new fashion choices? Do you prefer her old look, or are more into her new, glamorized aesthetic?
