Actress Nicole Eggert may be best known for the role she played on the show “Baywatch.” Now, according to a GoFundMe started by her friend Mindy Molinary, “As a single mom, she’s had to struggle financially to raise her two daughters.” Recently, Eggert received a diagnosis that is making it even harder for her to provide for her daughters.

On the Perfectly Twisted podcast, Eggert shared, “My pathology reports came back positive for cancer.” After crying and struggling with “the darkest thoughts,” she is now “through to the other side.”

Eggert told PEOPLE that her first sign that something was wrong was that she had “terrible pain” in her left breast. At first, she assumed it was a sign of menopause, but when she felt a lump in her breast during a self-exam, she called her doctor.

Eggert shared, “I immediately went to my general practitioner and she told me I had to immediately go get it looked at. But the problem was I just couldn’t get an appointment. Everything was booked. So I had to wait until the end of November to get it done.” She added, “This journey’s been rough for me. This hasn’t been a breezy sale through life.”

It was December 2023 when Eggert was diagnosed with stage 2 cribriform carcinoma breast cancer. Currently, she is waiting for her oncologist to decide when she will start chemotherapy and radition. She will also have surgery to have the lump removed. She explained, “I can definitely feel it. It’s there. It needs to be taken out. So it’s just a matter of do I have to do treatment before the surgery or can they perform the surgery and then I do the treatment after.”

Eggert has two children, 12 year old Keegan and 25 year old Dilyn. Her “biggest fear” is not being there for them. She said, “This is something I have to get through. This is something that I have to beat.” She explained that Keegan “needs me more than anything and anybody.”

Molinary is trying to help Eggert raise $100,000 to pay for her cancer treatments. Molinary explained in the fundraiser that Eggert “is tenacious and has always found a way to get by, but this is different. She will be unable to work while undergoing surgery and treatments. She has a long, scary road ahead and has a terrible time asking for help.”
