Popular Barstool Sports personality Cody “Beef” Franke has died at age 31.

Dave Portnoy’s media company confirmed the heartbreaking news, sharing that the golf content creator passed away over the weekend after a sudden medical emergency per TMZ. According to his colleague Dan “Big Cat” Katz, Franke was in the Dominican Republic attending a wedding when the incident occurred.

“It’s pretty s****y,” Katz said. “Really, really, really sad. Really tragic.”

“It’s devastating. I don’t know what else to say.”

Cody “Beef” Franke was a beloved golf content creator and Barstool Sports personality known for his humor, passion for the game, and down-to-earth teaching style. Born and raised in Antioch, Illinois, Franke developed a love for golf at a young age through his family and went on to study Professional Golf Management at Ferris State University in Michigan.

After earning his PGA credentials, he began his career at Desert Willow Golf Resort in California, where he built a reputation as a friendly and knowledgeable instructor. Later, he became the Head Golf Professional at Thornberry Creek at Oneida in Wisconsin, where his “Pro Tip Tuesday” videos gained popularity online for making golf instruction fun and easy to understand.
