Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen Have Joined Forces in a New Spotify Podcast

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aren’t the only famous couple to make a career change by starting a production company and landing their own Spotify podcast. Barack Obama has also started his own production company, and he’s teaming up with Bruce Springsteen for a podcast where they discuss personal and important topics.

Okay, so Obama and Springsteen aren’t exactly a couple, but they are definitely famous and a podcast is certainly a career change. Their podcast is produced by Obama’s production company, Higher Grounds, and is called Renegades: Born in the USA.

The first episode is called “Outsiders: An Unlikely Friendship.” In this episode, Obama talks about the pandemic and race issues in America. He also talks about how America could be united once again.

Obama also talks about his seemingly unlikely friendship with Springsteen. He explains that on the surface it may not seem like they would have much in common, but “over the years, what we’ve found is that we’ve got a shared sensibility about work, about family and about America. In our own ways, Bruce and I have been on parallel journeys trying to understand this country that’s given us both so much.”

The second episode is called, “American Skin: Race in the United States.” During this 42-minute episode, the former President and rocker talk about their experiences with race issues at a young age.

Obama and Springsteen have recorded a total of 8 episodes so far, but only the first two have been released. In future episodes, they will discuss things like America, marriage and fatherhood. Watch the video below to get a glimpse at the duo recording their new podcast.

Spotify sent a statement to CBS describing Obama and Springsteen’s new podcast. It explained, “President Obama and Bruce Springsteen have formed a deep friendship since they first met on the campaign trail in 2008. Now, for the first time ever, Higher Ground and Spotify invite listeners to eavesdrop as they discuss their hometowns and role models, explore modern manhood, and confront the painfully divided state of America today and how we can all move forward together.”
