The search for Brian Laundrie is over, but the question about why he died has yet to be answered. His parents found his skeletal remains in a wild life preserve near their home in Florida. While the remains were verified to belong to their son, the cause of death is still a mystery.

According to the Laundrie family’s lawyer, Steven Bertolino, an autopsy was not able to determine how Laundrie died. In a statement to NBC News, he explained, “No manner or cause of death was determined.” He added that an anthropologist is going to look at the remains to try to determine how he died.

No matter how Laundrie died, this is a tragic story. First the devastating news that 22-year-old Gabby Petito died, and now the mystery surrounding Laundrie’s death.

Laundrie and Petito appeared to be young and in love. They were traveling across the country together documenting the journey on social media. Laundrie was named a person of interest in Petito’s death before he disappeared. Now both of their lives have been cut short, and we will probably never know exactly what happened to Petito. Their families are grieving and ask for privacy.
