If you watch the show “America’s Got Talent,” you might remember a band named the CraigLewis Band from season 10, which aired back in 2015. The band, which was composed of Zuri Craig and Jeffrey Lewis, ended up coming in fifth place during the competition.

Unfortunately, on October 21, 2022, Craig died suddenly and unexpectedly. He was only 44 years old. His family broke the news on Instagram writing in the caption, “Please keep our family and friends in your prayers. More info forthcoming…  #RIPZuriCraig ”

The picture in the post included a variety of images of Craig, including several of him with a microphone, singing. The image also included the text, “It is with profound sadness that we announce the transition of our beloved son, brother and friend, Zuri Craig. We thank you in advance for your prayers. Please honor our privacy at this unimaginable time of mourning. Official details to follow.”

Months later, his family has yet to release any information about Craig’s cause of death. It remains unknown. His family did release information about celebration of life services for Craig which were held in both Atlanta and Washington D.C.

In addition to performing with Lewis on “America’s Got Talent,” the CraigLewis Band also performed on Oprah Winfrey’s talk show in 2010 and later guest stared on “The Mo’Nique Show” the following year. In addition, Craig partnered with Tyler Perry on films including “A Madea Christmas,” “Madea’s Big Happy Family,” and “Madea Gets a Job.” He was gearing up for a new production that would be filmed in Atlanta. It was called “Soul Food Live.”

Upon hearing the news of Craig’s death, his fans turned to the comments section on Instagram to share their condolences. One person wrote, “I am so sorry!!! I worked with Zuri on Tyler Perry shows!! My heart is broken!! I pray for the family in Jesus name for our loss!!!”

Another comment reads, “Cousin I feel like I was hit with a ton of bricks. Your family will miss your presence. You will forever be in our heart💔Lifting your Mom, Cast members @tylerperry @iamjefferylewis and all that you touched in Prayer . I love you @craigzuri @zoremient.”
