Alec Baldwin Speaks Out About Fatal Shooting On the Set of His Movie

For the first time since the fatal shooting that happened on the film set of the movie “Rust,” actor Alec Baldwin is speaking out on camera. Baldwin was the one who shot the gun that killed director of photography Halyna Hutchins, but this is only after he was told it was a “cold gun,” meaning not loaded with any explosives, by assistant director David Halls.

The production company has completely stopped production of the movie “Rust,” and the sheriff’s department is conduction an investigation into what exactly happened. In the meantime, Baldwin has travelled to Vermont with his family where he is trying to lay low; however, apparently, the paparazzi has been following him.

Baldwin, along with his wife and children, were driving down a road in Vermont, when, according to Baldwin, his children were crying in the car because the paparazzi wouldn’t stop following them. In order to try to get the paparazzi to leave them alone, Baldwin decided to pull over, get out of the car, and answer the paparazzi’s questions.

In a video shared by TMZ, Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, are seen standing on the side of the road. Hilaria is pointing her phone at the paparazzi and seems to be protective of her husband, but he insisted on answering the questions except for the ones he couldn’t answer. He explained that the sheriff’s department has ordered him not to “answer questions about the investigation.”

After making it clear what he could not talk about, Baldwin asked, “What other questions do you have other than that?” Baldwin proceeded to answer questions about his thoughts on firearms on sets. He fully supports “an ongoing effort to limit the use of firearms on film sets.” When asked if he would ever work on another film set that includes the use of firearms, his wife shook her head “no,” but Baldwin didn’t seem to know for sure whether he would or not.

When it comes to gun safety on film sets, Baldwin wanted to make one thing very clear. He said, “It’s urgent. It’s urgent that you understand that I’m not an expert in this field.”

In addition to questions about gun use and safety, the paparazzi also asked if he thinks production for the film “Rust” will ever resume. Baldwin quickly answered, “No, I don’t.”
