With so many DD locations all over the world, the company seems completely familiar. It’s easy to forget what a remarkable company it is! But here are seven cool facts about Dunkin’ Donuts to whet your interest (and maybe your  appetite). Some of them are insider tips from employees!

1. You Can Visit The Very First Dunkin’ Donuts

   Way back in 1950, the very first Dunkin’ Donuts opened up in Quincy, Massachusetts. Now everyone knows that there are thousands of DD’s all around the world! But the amazing thing is, you can still go and visit that original location. It looks a little different on the outside, but it’s still got that same DD goodness!

2. You Can Build Your Own Treat

   DD locations might not specifically advertise this, but you can basically customize anything on the menu. Want a chocolate drizzle on your cinnamon sugar donut? Just ask for it. Feel like dusting a classic glazed in cinnamon sugar? You can get that, too!

3. DD Has a Big Heart

   Dunkin’ Donuts produces a lot of food for all of its customers. On any given day, however, not all of that food will be sold. Instead of throwing all the leftovers out, as some restaurants might do, DD donates it to charities to feed the hungry. What a great idea!

4. If You’re Lucky, You’ll Get a DD Black Card

   Dunkin’ Donuts has a loyalty program (DD Perks) where you can earn points just by ordering the treats you love. But there’s another, super special rewards card called DD Black.

   No one really knows how you get a DD Black Card. The company likes to give them out by to celebrities like uber DD fan B.J. Novak. They also give them out by surprise, like to the 1000000th loyalty program member or to frequent customers.

5. It Would Take a LONG Time to Work through All the Drink Combinations

   Think about all the ways you can customize your drinks at Dunkin Donuts. Go ahead and add vanilla. Or caramel. Or both! Want to add an extra shot for more jolt? What about adding a shot to hot chocolate? And don’t get me started on all the Girl Scout Cookie flavors!

   The DD website claims that there are 25000 possible combinations on their menu. At least 15000 of those are drinks. So, if you wanted to get a different drink everyday, you’d be covered for at least the next 40 years. Amazing!

6. The Best-Sellers Are No Surprise

   DD’s top-selling doughnut flavors are Boston Kreme, Chocolate Glazed Cake, Chocolate Frosted, and Jelly Filled. So even with the thousands of possibilities available, the classics are still popular!

7. They Serve a LOT of Coffee

   A certain Seattle-based, green mermaid-touting company might get more notice for serving coffee. Dunkin Donuts is known for its food as well as its drinks, and it’s no noob when it comes to java. In fact, DD’s all around the world serve 60 cups of coffee a second! That adds up to about 1.9 billion cups a year, but who’s counting?
