It’s party season, and that means it’s time for us ladies to break out our fanciest dresses and most fabulous shoes. Only one problem — those heels can hurt, and even our prettiest flats can leave us with blisters after a night of dancing and socializing.

So what do you do: give up your heels for a, uh, less-than-cute option or suffer in silence?

Here are a few of the best hacks for taking the pain out of your favorite shoes:

1. Wear Socks

Yes, we are suggesting that you wear socks with your sandals or heels. Do we recommend that you trot this look out into public? Well, that’s entirely up to you! Truthfully, wearing socks with heels is kind of a fashionable thing nowadays (some proof if you don’t believe us), so that choice is up to you!

However, this is a great hack for BEFORE your big night out. Wear your too-big shoes around the house with socks for a few days to stretch them out, and they’ll fit like a glove with it’s time to take them out on the town.

Pro Tip: If you need to stretch out shoes STAT, put on your shoes over your socks and blow-dry the shoes. This will help stretch them to the size of the shoe faster.

2. Deodorize Your Feet

Take a little clear deodorant and spread it on the back of your feet and toes. This will help with the painful friction inside some shoes, and generally, make your shoe-wearing experience more comfortable.

Also, if your feet tend to smell (especially in the muggy summer) this hack will also help alleviate some embarrassing smells.

Pro Tip: A little talcum powder of baby powder will also do the trick!

3. Stick-On Fabrics

You can purchase stick-on fabrics at any craft store or even online and they come in pretty much every color you can imagine. They come in handy when it comes to blisters, especially on the back of your ankle.

First, get some fabric that will blend into your shoe. Cut it to size, stick it to the part of your shoe that rubs, and you’ll find it much more comfortable to walk!

Pro Tip: If you want a quicker, cheaper option, go for a simple Band-Aid over the spots that rub.
