5 Ways You’re Sabotaging Your Skin
Are you an adult who still gets acne? Skin problems are frustrating to deal with, and it can be difficult to determine why these problems crop up in the first place. The truth is that there could be a number of factors behind skin issues, but a lot of the causes can be easily identified. Are you guilty of any of these reasons why you may be sabotaging your skin?
1. No Consistency:
Are you constantly switching products, trying to find out what works best? Then you’re not doing your skin any favors. If you find something that works well, stick to it. Skin products take time to work, so use them as directed for a while so that they can make a difference.
2. Touching Your Face:
Every time you touch your face, you’re transferring any bacteria and dirt from your hands onto your face. Even if you’ve washed your hands, you can have bacteria on your hands from a railing, a doorknob, a cell phone, etc. So it’s always good to practice not touching your face if you don’t need to.
3. Using Expired Products:
Expired makeup and acne products won’t only not work, they’ll actually do more harm than good. So make sure you make a point to write the expiration date somewhere on the container in permanent marker so that you don’t miss it.
4. Sleeping on a Dirty Pillowcase
You shouldn’t sleep on a pillowcase for more than a week at a time without washing it. Think about it – it’s the thing that your face rubs up against the most. The oil from your face gets trapped there, so make sure you’re not sleeping on a dirty pillowcase for too long.
5. You’re Using the Wrong Formula
Do you know what kind of skin you have? Talk to your dermatologist to find out what your skin type is, and then you can make an informed decision about what kinds of products you’re using for general upkeep, clearing acne, etc.
