4 Home Remedies for Heartburn

There’s little that’s more annoying than heartburn, and it’s the worst when it prevents you from being able to eat your favorite foods. However, it is possible to reduce or deal with symptoms naturally without medication. First though, a quick note from DIY Natural:

A proper diet high in fruits and vegetables and low in fatty, fried, acidic, and processed foods is your best prevention and cure. Nonetheless, because we all falter from time to time use these natural home remedies to see what works best for you.

Almonds

Try eating 3-4 almonds (raw, roasted, salted or unsalted) after every meal or snack to decrease heartburn symptoms.

Aloe Vera Juice

Drink 2 ounces of aloe vera juice before you eat acidic food to help combat heartburn. If you don’t like the taste, DIY Natural recommends mixing it with a little bit of fruit juice. Look for aloe vera juice at local health food stores.

Apple Cider Vinegar

This remedy might not be so pleasant, but apple cider vinegar works to remedy many problems, including heartburn pain. Simply mix 1-2 teaspoons of the cider vinegar with 8 oz. of water and drink before each meal. You could also just take the 1-2 tablespoons straight if you can stand it. If your heartburn has already settled in, you can also try this remedy to get some instant relief.

Dairy

Dairy is actually known to be a food that relaxes the valve between the stomach and esophagus and some should avoid it altogether. For whatever reason though, dairy works for my heartburn. In extreme cases, when my usual remedies aren’t giving me any relief, I drink a glass of milk or eat a few tablespoons of ice cream. Careful… an ice cream habit can form quickly!
