If you have food that’s starting to go bad, there’s usually a way to save it. Here are some cool ideas to try out from Money Talks News:

    I make my own bread, cakes, and cupcakes from scratch. They taste better than store-bought and I can make my own for a fraction of the cost. Whenever I have leftover coffee (instant or ground) I add a tablespoon or two to chocolate cake, rye bread, or wheat bread batter. The coffee adds a lot of flavor to the finished product and the coffee doesn’t go to waste.

  2. Add Celery Leaves to Salad Leaves: believe it or not, celery leaves, which you might normally toss, are edible. Try tossing them into a salad you’re making anyway.
  3. Bake Old Oreos into Crust: even after Oreos get a bit stale and you don’t want to eat them on their own, you can still enjoy them in a baked good.

    I run old Oreos through a food processor (icing included) until they’re a dry paste. I press the paste into a pie plate, spread on two tablespoons of melted butter, and bake the whole thing at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes. The result: inexpensive, homemade chocolate pie crust.

  4. Make Potato Pancakes from Old Mashed Potatoes: have leftover mashed potatoes? Just use them for pancakes in the morning. Put a little olive oil or butter in a cast iron skillet on medium high, then shape the cold mashed potatoes into pancakes. Season them with salt and pepper, then cook them for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until done.
