Every day we’re getting closer and closer to knowing the name of the new royal baby to be. Meghan Markle is in her 3rd trimester, and she has already celebrated with a lavish baby shower in Manhattan. Her friends certainly pampered her with an event fit for a princess.

Although we don’t yet know if the new royal will be a boy or a girl, many people are placing bets as to what the little one’s name will be. With all the baby names out there, like, list after list of baby names, it might seem hard or even impossible to narrow the list down far enough to have a few leading contenders, but that is not the case. Over at the betting site Ladbrokes there are three top names if the baby is a boy and another 3 in the lead if the baby is a girl.

First of all, do you think the baby will be a boy or a girl?

If you answered “boy,” then most likely the little prince will be given one of 3 names. Albert, Arthur and Philip are all tied in the guess at which boy name Meghan and Harry would choose. Harry is super close to his grandfather, Prince Philip, so that name is an obvious choice. Albert was Queen Victoria’s husband’s name, so that makes it a likely choice as well. Then there’s Arthur, as in the fictional King Arthur. That’s already Prince Louis’ middle name, so the couple may pass on that one, but you never know.

If you answered “girl” you’d be happy to know that Harry’s hoping for a girl as well. We’re sure he’ll be delighted with a prince or princess, but if he gets his wish, bookies think he and Meghan will pick one of the following names: Victoria, Alice or Diana.

Victoria is in the lead overall for all baby names. It would make sense that the couple might choose to name their daughter after Queen Victoria. As a feminist, Meghan probably appreciates how the legendary Queen literally ruled in a male-dominated society.

Alice is rapidly moving up in popularity. This is Prince Philip’s mother’s name, and we’ve already mentioned how close Harry is to his grandfather. And, Diana should be an obvious choice. It is Harry’s mother’s name, after all.

When it comes to baby names, though, you never know what the couple will choose. Perhaps they’ll surprise everyone and pick a name that isn’t even on this list. Maybe they haven’t even decided what name to choose.
