When you make rice, what do you usually do with the water you boiled it with? If you’re pouring it down the drain, you may want to reconsider. Because rice, and therefore rice water, has a plethora of helpful vitamins and minerals, there are a lot of benefits to using this water in your beauty routine. And to get this water, all you need to do is cook your rice with more water than you usually would. Then strain the rice, save the water, wait until it cools, then save it and use it for any of these jobs!

  • Skin Toner/Pore Tightener:
  • Just soak a clean cloth in the rice water and wipe your skin all over. The rice water will work to tighten and tone your skin, removing impurities and leaving it feeling soft and refreshed.

  • Hair Mask:
  • Want to give your hair a boost of shine? Just pour rice water over your hair and rub into your scalp. Put hair in a cap and leave it be for about 20 minutes. Then shampoo as usual.

  • Acne Treatment:
  • Use a cotton ball to dab rice water onto problematic acne. Doing this on a normal basis will gradually reduce the redness.
