23 Staycation Ideas for This Summer

If it’s not in your budget to take a trip this summer, that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy and more nontraditional “summer vacation.” Take a look at some great staycation ideas from Parenting Squad that will help you have a fun summer closer to home:

  1. Visit a “Pick Your Own” Farm: there are some great seasonal fruits and veggies that you can pick up throughout the summer. Take advantage of the opportunity to pick them yourself on an outing with your friends or family. Then continue to make a day of it by baking with your bounty.
  2. Visit a Local Winery or Vineyard: a day at a winery nearby can certainly make you feel like you’re on vacation.
  3. Throw a Luau: invite your friends over and throw a luau (as authentically as you can) to feel like you’re in the tropics for a day.
  4. Book a Room at a Local Hotel: enjoy the benefits of a hotel without spending much of anything on travel. Swim in the pool, get room service, etc.
  5. Plan a Family Field Day: play “old school” games like tag, kickball, and relay races. Make it a big day of fun and competition for all.
