These Two Tips Help Rice Turn Out Perfectly!

For something that’s such a basic staple, rice can be surprisingly difficult to get just right. More often than not, our dreams of perfect rice are dashed when the grain turns out overly sticky and a clumpy, dull mess. Not exactly appetizing, is it? Thankfully, all the expert cooks and chefs out there are full of tips to help us get our rice on track. We’ve already learned that we should increase the amount of water we cook it in, and now we’re adding two more easy tips to the list, courtesy of Oh, Sweet Basil.

So what are these two tips? They’re so easy:

  1. Wash your rice until the water runs clear, then drain it for about 20 minutes, and it’ll no longer have too much of the starch that makes it clump while cooking.
  2. Add 2 drops of lemon juice to the rice while it cooks to make it less sticky and more brightly white.

So simple! It’ll be no trouble at all to put these tricks into practice. Do you have any tips of your own for easy, non-clumping rice?
