11 Variations on the Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich

There are few sandwiches more delicious and inexpensive than the ever-popular peanut butter and jelly sandwich. However, if you get bored with your average PB&J, here are a few creative ideas from Wise Bread for jazzing it up on the cheap:

  • PB&J for Breakfast: check out this Rachael Ray recipe for peanut butter and jelly french toast sticks for a great start to the morning.
  • Go Elvis: make PB&J like the King used to. Add sliced banana, or other sliced fruits like apples or pears, between your peanut butter and jelly.
  • Lose the Bread: try almond butter and jam with raisins between two rice cakes, or PB&J wrapped in a tortilla, on pizza crust or on banana bread for an even sweeter treat.
  • Toast Up PB&J S’mores: add a layer or peanut butter and a layer of jelly to your graham crackers before smushing them together with the chocolate and warm marshmallow.
  • Prepare PB&J Pie Pockets: these peanut butter and jelly pockets from PinkPetunia’s House feature PB&J inside a flaky pie crust.
