10 Foods That You Shouldn’t Buy Organic

Buying organic produce will definitely cost you more at the grocery store, and sometimes the higher cost is worth it. However, the Environmental Working Group (EWG) came up with a list (referred to as the “Clean 15”) of produce that, when grown normally, poses a minimal risk of exposure to pesticides. In fact, according to the EWG:

[E]ating five servings a day from this “Clean 15” list reduces your exposure to pesticides by almost 90 percent compared to five servings daily from the “Dirty Dozen.”

So when it comes to these frutis and veggies, you should save your money and avoid buying organic. Here are 10 fruits and veggies from the “Clean 15” list:

  1. Onions
  2. Sweet corn
  3. Avocado
  4. Cabbage
  5. Asparagus
  6. Mangoes
  7. Eggplant
  8. Sweet Potatoes
  9. Grapefruit
  10. Mushrooms
