Beauty Guru Shares Her 10 Favorite Makeup Hacks

I don’t know many women who don’t turn to those beauty gurus over on YouTube for help and inspiration when it comes to their makeup application. Today, we are going to hear from one of our choice gurus, Natalie at Natalie’s Outlet. She’s going to reveal to us her all-time favorite makeup hacks. If you want to stay fresh-faced throughout the day, then look no further than this list!

  1. Pain-Free Eyebrow Plucking

To reduce discomfort associated with brow plucking, take a shower! The steam will help cleanse and open your pores. This preparation will make it so that your plucking experience is virtually painless!

  2. Perfect False Lashes

False lashes can truly transform any look, but they aren’t so cute when the white, gooey false lash band is visible! If you want to ditch that look, then simply cut your false lashes in half. Apply the outer-corner end of the lashes to the inside of your natural lash line.

This technique can be a bit tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be able to achieve full, natural-looking lashes.

  3. Accurate Nose Contouring

Unless you’ve got the steady hand of a surgeon, it can be very difficult to accomplish that “skinny, straight nose” through contouring. Natalie suggests taking a bobby pin and manipulating it until it look a bit like a “U.”

Next, you will apply it directly onto the nose so that the pin’s side’s pinch the outside of your nose. You can then go in with a dark powder and start shading away!

If you like to add a bit of highlighter to the center of the nose, then turn the bobby pin around so that its ends are pointing down towards your lips. Use that small crevice as a stencil for brushing in an accurate, centralized highlight.

  4. VapoRub for Fuller Lips

Though our hilarious host notes that this method is not the most appetizing, it really does give you plumper lips! The secret is in the methanol, which helps stimulate the nerves in your pout, giving it a bit of a boost. Simply dab onto your lips as if you were applying normal lip balm.

  5. Gorgeous Shadow Without the Fall-Out

If you’re like me, half the time you go for a smoky eye look, you end up resembling a raccoon. If eye shadow fall-out is an issue for you, then go into your bathroom and go for a box of feminine pads. It sounds strange, but these suckers are great for shadow application.

All you need to do is make a small cut at both of the rounded sides of the pad. Place a pre-cut semi-circle beneath both eyes, then apply your eye makeup. Carefully remove when done.

  6. Genius Beauty Blender Storage

Beauty blenders are one of the hottest new makeup tools to come around in recent memory. Though these sponges are beloved, they unfortunately tend to be dirt-and-bacteria magnets. One way to reduce contamination is by storing the beauty blender in a clean environment.

Natalie suggest a plastic Easter egg. All standard-sized beauty blenders should fit like a glove in the egg!

  7. Argan Oil for Smooth Lips

We all know that matte lipsticks are beautiful, but they tend to suck out a great deal of natural moisture from the lips.

One way to combat this is by squeezing some argan oil onto your lips before you apply your lipstick. The matte lipstick will smooth on more easily, allowing your lips to stay hydrated throughout the day.

  8. Seamless Eyelash Glue Application

Applying false eyelashes can be a messy business! Many times you end up with more glue than lash! One way to stop this is by using a trusty bobby pin to spread the glue over the false lash line.

Just squeeze a small amount onto a non-porous surface, and dip the end of the bobby pin into it. This method should give you a much more controlled application than using that thick, clumsy tube applicator.

  9. Say Bye-Bye to Foundation Transfer

If you are a glasses wearer, then you know how hard it can be to keep your foundation on the outer edges of your nose, especially if you put your glasses on directly after your makeup application.

If you have a bit of time between doing your makeup and needing to be presentable, then take a paper towel and place it under your glasses. This will help keep that excess foundation off of the eyeglass nosepiece.

  10. DIY Matte Lipstick

This is one of the coolest DIY beauty projects that I’ve seen! If you are a matte lipstick lover, but hate the steep prices, then it’s time to get creative. You can make your own matte lipstick with three ingredients: eye shadow, foundation, and Vitamin E oil.

All you need to do is mix the three together until you get the desired consistency and color. Be sure to store your gorgeous new lipstick in a small makeup case that seals well.
