Judy Garland was born on June 10, 1922. One of her most notable roles as an actress was when she played a young Kansas girl named Dorothy in the classic Warner Bros. movie “The Wizard of Oz,” which was released in 1939. In the classic movie, Dorothy leaves Kansas during a tornado and ends up in a magical world where she meets unlikely friends and has to find her way back home.

Garland passed away due to a drug overdose in 1969 at the age of 47, but if she were still alive today, she would be about to celebrate her 100th birthday. In honor of her birthday, Fathom Events has rereleased “The Wizard of Oz” in theaters for a special celebratory screening of the film.

Unfortunately, she makes a mortal enemy of a wicked witch when the house falls on the hag’s sister. Now, befriended by a scarecrow without a brain, a tin man with no heart and a cowardly lion–and protected by a pair of enchanted ruby slippers–Dorothy sets off along a yellow brick road for the Emerald City to beseech the all-powerful Wizard of Oz for his help to return home.”
