Kentucky Police Department Is Looking for Volunteers to Consume Alcohol to Help with Field Sobriety Training

It’s said that if something sounds too good to be true it probably is. Sometimes that saying isn’t true. If you like alcohol and if you live in Kentucky, listen up.

The Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training recently posted on Facebook that they are providing a free meal and $100 for volunteers who are willing to drink alcohol. Yes, really.

The post reads, “Field Sobriety Training Volunteers Needed. Participants will consume regulated amounts of alcohol and undergo field sobriety testing by Basic Training Academy recruits. Receive a free meal and $100 for your assistance.”

The post has received well over 1000 shares and 1000 comments. Some of the people commenting seem to be joking about getting paid to get hammered, but the offer is very real. The KY Department of Criminal Justice Training has been responding to comments and answering questions.

One commenter wanted to know, “What kind of alcohol is served?” She added in a reply to her own comment, “I’m not a beer drinker.”

Turns out that beer is not an option. KY Department of Criminal Justice Training responded, “Bourbon, vodka and rum. Pick your favorite, add coke or OJ!”

According to the post “Participants are needed for training on March 21, April 25 and June 6. Must register a .00 blood-alcohol level to leave the premises.” Obviously, drunk driving is not allowed, and no, you can’t even get an Uber. You have to be sober before you can head home.

If you’re interested in helping the Basic Training Academy recruits out by drinking and eating on their dime, and if you live in the Richmond, Kentucky area, contact Brooke Norton by email at [email protected] or call 859-622-6453.

It’s no surprise that her inbox is already already overflowing. She’s received over 1000 emails and over 150 voicemails, but why not add yours to the mix?

Are you going to volunteer?
