“Triangle of Sadness” is not yet in theaters, but it was a hit at the Cannes Film Festival and even won the prestigious Palme d’Or award. After the honor, lead actress in the film, Charlbi Dean, tweeted, “Congratulations our family we did it!!!” She added, “Can’t believe I had the best year making this during one of the hardest times in my life.”

Dean isn’t new to acting, but this role could have been her big break to rocket her to stardom. We say “could have” because Dean suddenly passed away on Monday August 29, 2022. She was only 32 years old. A representative for Dean told TMZ that she died from an “unexpected sudden illness” but did not specify what illness.
Dean’s final Instagram post was just days before her death. Her fans have taken to the comments section to express their grief at her death. One comment reads, “Rest easy lovely girl. An inspiration to so many.”
Another person wrote, “Rest in Peace beautiful. You didn’t know me but you were my big role model. Thank you for inspiring me.”

Dean was born in South Africa, and she has worked as a model all over the world. She has graced the covers of multiple magazines. She also has quite a few acting credits, but she’s probably best known for her role as Syonide on the CW show “Black Lightning.”
Some of Dean’s friends posted tributes to her on social media. For example, her friend Helena Beato wrote on Instagram that Dean was “a beautiful woman, and a beautiful soul who always lit up the room. She was probably the coolest person I ever met. One of those effortlessly cool people, authentic, genuine, and caring.” She added that Dean was “incredibly talented” but “worked very hard to get where she was.”

Another one of Dean’s friends, Nina Dobrev, wrote on her Instagram stories, “An angel has gone to heaven far too soon. Rest in peace Charlbi.”
“Triangle of Sadness” is scheduled to be released in the United States on October 7th. In the film, Dean plays a model who is a guest on a luxury yacht that ends up sinking.
