Dad Transforms His Daughters’ Bedroom Into an Indoor Tree House

At some point, every kid imagines living in a tree like an elf or a fairy. Most kids don’t get to have that dream come true— unless they’re the daughters of Adam Hadlock. This dad decided to transform his daughters’ bedroom into an indoor tree house, and he did it all over three days, all by himself. The results are INCREDIBLE. Little Things shares the video from Adam’s YouTube account, GNDxero.

We are blown away by the end result of this project! It is literally the dream of any kid (or at least of mine when I saw a kid) to have a bed like this.

From the outside, this child’s bed looks like a tree house, with a green canopy (resembling an actual canopy!) strung up between a  frame cut and painted to look like a large tree. Underneath the faux branches is a comfortable looking bed, with bright internal lighting for bedtime stories.

From the bed beneath, you can climb through two openings – one on either side – to a top level. In the middle, of course, is the incredibly fun rope canopy, but on either side is a cozy little reading nook, complete with stuffed animals and books. As if that wasn’t enough, there’s a lit passageway beneath the bed as well, for another comfortable hideaway.

The amount of fun any kid could have in this tree house bed is incredible.

How did this amazing dad pull off? Well, he actually makes it look pretty easy. He even breaks it down into X simple steps.

Step 1: Clean the room

To get the new bed in, the old one (and all the clutter around it) had to come out first. This dad takes the time to clear about both beds and sweep up the under-bed mess, too. Which is just admirable.

Step 2: Make the frame

The next step is to measure the space for the tree house bed and create the wooden frame that the bed will rest on. The planks of the frame are drilled into the bedroom wall for extra security. Also built into the frame is a full bureau, which acts as a support and some creative storage, too.

To top it all off (literally), a plywood top is drilled into the platform and two adorable lights are installed, one on each side of the future tree house.

Step 3: Pre-Stain the Plywood

The plywood that will soon become the “trees” of the tree house are then taken out to the garage and stained dark brown. A poly acrylic is added to the existing frame in the bedroom.

Step 4: Cut the Plywood Trees

Here’s where things really start to take shape! The plywood tree shapes are now cut out using a hand saw.

Step 5: Coat of Poly Acrylic

The entire frame in the bedroom gets another coat of poly acrylic paint.

Step 6: Route All the Edges

Dad makes sure all the edges are smooth and safe for his daughter by routing everything down.

Step 7: Assemble

The wooden trees, after being cut, painted, and routed, are brought into the room and attached to the bed frame and bureau.

Step 8: Coat of Polyurethane

To prevent anything from catching on fire, melting, or being disfigured in any way, the trees are given a coat of polurethane.

Step 9: Weave the Hammock

Using green bungee cords, a stretchy (but strong) hammock is woven. Once completely, it’s hung between the two trees, finishing the project.

Did the girls like their new bed? Considering they said, “We should show this to the President!” we’re guessing yes, they love their new bed. Too cute.
