Motherhood is a fun time of a woman’s life; getting to play with your kids, watching them grow up through the best (and worse) phases of life, and overcoming the classic obstacles of parenting. But we would be amiss if we didn’t also mention that motherhood is an exhausting thing, as well. It’s fair to say that it’s equal parts wonderful and infuriating, to tell the truth. Well, this mom can attest to that. During what looks like a household nap time (which every family should definitely institute as a house rule), this mom thinks she’ll lie down for a bit. Her toddler has a different thought, however.

It becomes apparent that every time this mom tries to relax by lying down, her toddler becomes very, very unhappy. He lies down on his side, too, and begins to kick, flail, cry, scream — whatever it takes to get mom up again.

The worst part of all is that the little boy isn’t doing anything with mom at the moment! In fact, he’s playing by himself a little ways away from his tired mother. He’s not being fed or tended to, he doesn’t seem to need anything except for a little attention, so it would seem!

Luckily for all us viewers at home, a family member or friend was wise enough to videotape this entire ordeal. The mom, obviously amused by her son’s antics, tries lying down in different position on the floor. Each time has the same result. No matter if she lies near her baby or away from him, he does not like the fact that mom is taking a load off! And he is very verbal about it.

One of the funniest parts is that this toddler clearly doesn’t mind that everyone else in the room is lying down. There’s a man lying on the floor next to the mom and someone lounging on the couch. But their relaxing doesn’t bother this baby in the slightest! It’s only when his mom takes a break that he begins to freak out, even kicking his legs in true temper tantrum form.

All the adults in the room are laughing at the situation — even mom, despite how exasperated she must be. The little boy, however, does not get the joke. He’s looking around at everyone laughing like he’s completely confused, even annoyed, by what’s so funny.

We can’t think of something that captures the idea of motherhood better than this hilarious video! More like the struggles of motherhood, really. This mom has probably been on her feet all day working or maybe cleaning the house or cooking dinner or running errands — or maybe all of the above! And when she finally gets a moment of down time, her kid is there to remind her she can’t really have any down time!

Even if this video was a setup (and a very funny one at that), it’s still the perfect glimpse of motherhood!
