British actress Claire Foy is probably best known for her role as Queen Elizabeth II on the Netflix series “The Crown.” What fans didn’t know was that she was actually battling a parasitic infection for years.

Foy revealed details about her health battle publicly for the first time on the “Table Manners” podcast where you explained how she found out about the infection and what she did to treat it. She told hosts Jessie and Lennie Ware that she doesn’t drink caffeine, and that admission prompted Jessie to ask, “When did you stop drinking caffeine?”

This is when Claire shared the story about the parasites. After a short pause, she explained, “Quite a few years ago, I had parasites. Gross.” She explained that she found out about the parasites “because I kept losing weight and I didn’t know what was going on.” At the same time she was “eating everything.” She explained that she was “so hungry.”

Claire believes she got the parasites in Morocco, and she believes that she had the parasites for “at least 5” years before she even knew about it. She added, “And they travel as a pair I got told by the doctor. Gross. Absolutely rank. It’s disgusting.”

In order to get rid of the parasites, she went on a special diet instead of taking “really hard-core antibiotics.” Part of her new diet involved “giving up caffeine.” She explained that it was hard to give up caffeine. Previously she drank “at least 15 cups of tea a day” as well as two cups of coffee.

In addition to not consuming caffeine, Claire has also given up gluten and sugar due to an autoimmune condition. She shared that she does not have a gluten allergy, but it’s better for her not to have it to avoid inflammation.
