How to Turn Your Car into a Snow Plow

Winter can be a beautiful time of year—for people who don’t have to live in the snow, that is! You cold weather warriors know how taxing it can be to fight against icy roads. The day-to-day can be frustrating, especially if you have to wait for the snow plow to come just to leave your home. That’s why we’re going to show you a curious hack that will easily plow your driveway in no time at all!

So, if you’re ready to plow your outdoor space with ease, just grab a plastic table and a bungee cord, and attach it to the back of your car. Confused? Don’t worry, we initially were, too, but it’s actually much simpler than you may think.

The outer edge of the table’s top will act as the sharp edge of the “plow.” When dragged by the car, it will scrape the excess snow off of the road in the same way that a real snow plow does.

In the description of this viral video, the property owners explain their creative rationale behind using office furniture as a snow plow:

My brother and I usually have to hand shovel our family business Ricochet Home Consignment whenever it snows like it did. We went in early one morning to go shovel and he said we should push a table and it will go faster.

I then said let’s tie it onto your car and we can make a plow. We cleared nearly the entire lot without creation! We also experimented the first time with the table flipped the opposite way and me (Riley) behind it on a piece a cardboard.

The snow in front of the table got too heavy and I let go and flew over the table and got drenched!

Yikes! We’re happy that they experimented with that method so that we didn’t have to.

Now, we’re going to warn you that this particular tip isn’t the coolest looking thing in the world. In fact, you may get a stare or two if you try this in your own neighborhood, BUT the results are hard to argue against!

So, if you can’t quite wrap your head around using this improvised snow tool yourself, let’s take a look at some daunting specifics.

As we all know, snow plows are expensive! A new one will set you back at least $4,000, and you’ll need a strong pick-up truck to push it! Of course, you can hire someone to do the job, but it can sometimes be difficult to get someone out to you in a timely manner.

Doesn’t seem like such a bad idea now, does it?
