Reclaim Your Closet Space With These Helpful Shoe Storage Hacks

Have too many shoes? We know, it sounds like a misnomer. You may be thinking: how is it possible to have too many shoes anyways? Don’t worry, we feel you on that one. That’s why today we’ve got a super helpful storage hack courtesy of a company that knows their shoes—Famous Footwear! Get ready to reclaim some serious closet space!

These organizational projects are as close to perfect as they come. Each one is easy, stylish, and most importantly, costs next to nothing to complete! Talk about a win-win situation.

  1. Bookshelf Shoe Organizer

If you have a variety of different types of shoes – i.e. sky high heels, thigh high boots, and assorted tennis shoes – then this project may just be for you!

Start by locating an old bookshelf. If you don’t have an extra one lying around, check your local online classifieds—it’s pretty easy to find one of these guys for free.

Once you’ve found the bookshelf, simply move it into your closet, or any designated space in which you like to keep your shoes. Adjust the shelves so that you can easily place your high boots on the bottom, your flats in the middle, and your heels on the top.

Make the shelf your own by adding some paint, decorative adhesives, or pretty wallpaper.

  2. Under-the-Bed Shoe Organizer Tray

If you’re living in a small home, sometimes it’s better to get those shoes out of sight—it can really help you maximize your space!

You can do this by getting a large picture frame (again, these can be purchased for next to nothing on online classifieds or at dollar stores), and organizing your shoes on its surface. When they are all arranged to your liking, simply slide the picture frame under your bed.

If you have hardwood floors in your home, then we suggest adding wheels to the frame, making it a sliding tray that is a bit easier to access.

  3. Cylindrical Shoe Rack

If you’re into a more off-beat aesthetic, then this project is for you!

Grab some PVC pipe and carefully cut it into 8-to-12-inch sections (depending on your shoe size) with a hand saw. Once you’re done, just slide your shoes in and place in your desired spot. The best part about using the pipe is that it’s completely stackable. It’s a surefire way that ensures your shoes stay tidy.

As with the bookshelf shoe organizer, feel free to make your new cylindrical shoe rack your own. Add paint, wallpaper, or decorative adhesives to help pretty it up!

  4. Ottoman Shoe Organizer

This is a great option for those of you out there who have a top-opening ottoman with storage inside. All you need to do is get a hold of a canvas over-the-door shoe organizer, and cut it up so that it can fit easily inside the ottoman. Then simply staple the organizer onto the inside interior. What an awesome idea!
