Sandra Bullock Opens Up About Why She’ll Be Stepping Away From Acting After New Movie

Sandra Bullock has been acting since the late 80s. Her career in acting and producing has been successful, to say the least. Known for everything from Miss Congeniality to Bird Box, she’s won an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and three Critics’ Choice Movie Awards.

But now, the Hollywood star has announced that she’ll be taking a hiatus from acting. “I take my job very seriously when I’m at work,” the 57-year-old actor stated, adding that it is a “24/7” job. “And I just want to be 24/7 with my babies and my family.”

Mom to 12-year-old Louis and 10-year-old Laila, Bullock says that the break is needed in order for her to be “in the place that makes me happiest,” adding, “That’s where I’m gonna be for a while.”

Bullock will spend the days “servicing their every need,” clarifying, “Their social calendar.” Her kids are quite the busy ones!

Don’t worry, the acting break won’t be forever. Bullock says she’ll eventually come back to the big screen, but the plans aren’t super set in stone yet. “I’ll get back to it. I don’t know when. Probably when they’re teenagers, solidly 16- or 17-year-olds,” she said.

Bullock adopted Louis in 2010 and Laila in 2015 as a single parent, though she has been with her partner Bryan Randall since 2015.

“I knew I would be a mother, but I knew I wouldn’t be a mother at a young age,” Sandra said on an episode of Facebook Watch’s Red Table Talk, adding that she was focused on her acting career before deciding to adopt. “That was all that I had. That was my joy. I was on a wheel, but it’s hard when society is breathing down your neck going, ‘You have to do [motherhood] this way.'”

When Louis “put into my arms” at 10 days old in 2010, Bullock said that she “just knew and I said, ‘This is my path.'”

Bullock and Channing Tatum are currently filming Paramount’s “The Lost City,” premiering in theaters on April 15, 2022. After that, her movie star break will begin.

Acting can really take you away from your family, but Bullock knows this time is short and wants to take full advantage for a while. Who can blame her!
