The newest royal baby’s due date is approaching, and as fans of the family wait with bated breath for his or her arrival, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have their own plans. The announcement will be somewhat non-traditional.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want to keep things private, and an official statement was released through Buckingham Palace:
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby.
Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”
There won’t be the usual photo taken on the steps of St. Mary’s Hospital where media and members of the public gather to watch. In years past, royals like Princess Diana and Kate Middleton greeted flashing lights and large crowds while cradling their babies within hours of giving birth.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been carving out their own path when it comes to old royal traditions, and this news follows rumors of an unconventional birth plan and the couple’s move to Frogmore Cottage.
They are trying to keep their baby out of the spotlight for a time, and we can’t say we blame them. All of us will just have to wait and see when they are ready to share their bundle of joy with the world. Get the royal scoop by clicking on the video below.
