Florida Teens Stranded in the Water Pray for Help, Then Get Rescued By a Boat Named ‘Amen
When you’re desperate for help, you probably find yourself praying—whether or not you believe in a higher power—for someone, or something, to come to the rescue.
One teenage couple, Tyler Smith and Heather Brown, both 17, were celebrating their “beach senior skip school day” by taking a trip to Vilano Beach in Florida. But their fun day came to a screeching halt when they found themselves a couple miles off the coastline. They were stranded there for about two hours.
They were both attempting to stay afloat, but were quickly losing strength and were beginning to lose all hope. That’s when they began to pray. “I cried out, ‘If you really do have a plan for us, like, come on. Just bring something,’” said Smith.
What happened next is truly remarkable, and would be hard to deem a coincidence. A boat by the name of “Amen” came to rescue the teens.
“I started swimming towards it. I was like, ‘I’m going to get this boat. Just stay here. I’m going to get this boat. We are going to live,’” Brown said. And with their determination, they were able to get their attention.
The “Amen” boat had been sailing from South Florida to New Jersey and saw the teens not too long after they prayed. The men aboard were able to get close to the two, bring them on board the ship, and then back to shore safely.
Smith and Brown know that someone is watching over them—how else do you explain it? “There’s no other reason, no other explanation in the world other than God,” Smith said.
I think we can agree! What an incredible story.
What do you think of how these teens were rescued? Have you ever had your prayers answered in a way like this?
