Rams Wide Receiver Rushes to Meet Newborn Son After Winning the Super Bowl

When a woman is pregnant, her doctor gives her an educated guess about when she will go into labor and give birth to her child. If you have ever been pregnant or know anyone who has ever been pregnant, you probably know that predicting when a child will be born can be about as accurate as predicting the weather.

Sometimes a woman’s due date is completely accurate and she actually gives birth on that exact day; however, this is not all that common. More often a woman will go into labor days or even weeks before or after her predicted due date.

Unfortunately, babies sometimes choose to arrive at the most inconvenient times. For example, you probably know multiple people who were born in the middle of the night or the early morning hours. That means the new mom and possibly the dad as well were up all night and welcomed the new baby into the world when they were already exhausted.

For Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Van Jefferson, his second child decided to make his debut during one of the biggest games of his dad’s life – Super Bowl LVI.

Jefferson and his wife, Samaria Jefferson, have a 5-year-old daughter, and they knew that their son would be added to their family any day. At 40 weeks pregnant, Samaria knew she could go into labor at any time, but she was hoping it wouldn’t be until the Super Bowl was over. Her due date was February 17, and the Super Bowl was on February 13, so it was entirely possible that she would make it through the game just fine.

Samaria made it to the Super Bowl, and during the entire game, her husband thought she was at SoFi Stadium cheering him on. This was true in the beginning, but what he didn’t find out until after the Rams won the Super Bowl was that his wife had gone into labor and was rushed to the hospital on a stretcher.

Samaria had decided ahead of time that if she happened to go into labor during the game, she didn’t want her husband to know until after the game was over. She knew he would walk off the field and go to the hospital with her if he found out, and she didn’t want him to miss the Super Bowl.

Immediately after the game was over, Jefferson ran out of SoFi Stadium to meet his wife at the hospital and to hold his baby boy in his arms for the very first time.
