Ever since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry sat down with Oprah Winfrey for a tell-all interview and dropped some shocking news about their lives as senior royals, the world has been waiting for the royal family’s response. How would they react to the accusations?

The Queen released a statement that neither confirmed nor denied anything Meghan and Harry said was true by explaining, “While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.” She at the same time remained vague while seeming to express concern.

Meanwhile, Prince Charles is supposedly “in a state of despair” after the interview. It seems that his concern isn’t so much with his relationship with his son and daughter-in-law but that the interview made him look bad. He wanted to be a popular king, and Harry only hurt his father’s image by saying that he wouldn’t take his calls and that he wasn’t sympathetic or helpful when it came to Meghan’s mental health.

What does Prince William have to say about all this? Harry mentioned that he wasn’t on the best terms with his brother. He also said that his brother was “trapped” but unable to leave the royal family.

One journalist was recently able to get the first comments from the 2nd in line to be King. Prince William and Kate Middleton made an appearance at School 21 in Stratford, London. The couple was there to congratulate teachers on the reopening of the school after a recent lockdown.

While they were at School 21, a reporter called out to William and asked, “Sir, have you spoken to your brother since the interview?”

The Prince responded “I haven’t spoken to him yet, but I will do.”

The reporter was able to ask William one more question before he was too far away. He asked, “And, can you just let me know, is the royal family a racist family?”

Prince William responded, “We are very much not a racist family.”

Watch the interaction for yourself in the video below.

This is the first time a member of the royal family has answered specific questions about the interview with Meghan and Harry.

On Twitter, many people have commented wondering why William hasn’t spoken to his brother yet. Others think the event looked staged. Yet others think that the reporter should’ve asked better questions.

What do you think of Prince William’s comments about the Oprah interview? Do you think he will speak to his brother soon? Do you think Harry should give him a call?
