Bob Evans Farms, Inc. is Recalling Nearly 50,000 Pounds of Pork Sausage

Bad news for all of you meat lovers– a whopping 47,000 pounds of Bob Evans Farms, Inc. pork sausage has been recalled by the USDA after foreign matters were found hidden in the food product. The foreign matter that the agency is specifically concerned about is a clear, hard plastic substance that could be harmful if chewed or swallowed.

Luckily, there have been no complaints of illness, but, according to the USDA, a number of reports have been filed with the company, which means that the foreign matters do pose a threat. Currently, the agency has this recall labeled as a Class II, a “health hazard situation where there is a remote probability of adverse health consequences from the use of the product.” So far, only the raw pork sausage variety is included, but there is concern that the product could be sitting in consumers’ freezers.

Here are the exact items that have been recalled, all of which were produced on August 1, 2018:

  • 12-oz overwrap trays labeled “BOB EVANS MAPLE PORK SAUSAGE LINKS.” These products contain a Use by date of Oct. 16, 2018 or Oct. 19, 2018, and Lot Code of 8213.
