Texas Man Doesn’t Understand Why Neighbors Have a Problem With His Pepto-Bismol Pink House

There are a lot of things to consider when buying a house. A lot of it depends on the size of your family which will determine what size house you’re looking for and if you’re considering things like school districts.

After you narrow done how many bedrooms and bathrooms you want, you’ll probably consider things like how recently the bathrooms were updated and if the house has a pool or not. You’d also consider what style the house is and if you like the house’s paint color.

Depending on where you move, some neighborhoods have an HOA which can be a good thing. It keeps the houses looking fairly consistent and often pays for community features like a pool, a playground and a tennis court.

However, if you want to be able to do absolutely anything you want to the outside of your house, you would probably stay away from an HOA. That was the case for Pflugerville, Texas, resident Emilio Rodriguez. He specifically looked for a house that didn’t have an HOA, and many of his neighbors hate the changes he made to the outside of his home.

When Rodriguez bought his house, it looked like a normal house. It was a beige color that blended in with the rest of the houses in the neighborhood. Now, his house is pink and not a light creamy shade of pink. It’s Pepto-Bismol pink.

Rodriguez says that pink is his favorite color, and he wanted to make sure he avoided an HOA so that he would be able to paint his house his favorite color. He started by painting the back of the house pink, but now the entire house is pink including the roof and the rain gutters.

His neighbors are upset about the pink house, and they have good reason. A house in an unusual color like this will bring down the property values for the surrounding homes, especially the next door neighbors. Since there isn’t an HOA, the only hope the neighbors have would be potentially filing a lawsuit.

Rodriguez honestly doesn’t seem to understand why his neighbors are upset. He thinks it’s part of the “Keep Austin Weird” vibe, and he’s not done painting. Watch the video below to find out what else he plans to paint pink.

Do you like the color of this house? How would you react if your neighbor painted his house pink?
