A few months ago, one of America’s most recognizable and beloved food chains announced they were dropping twelve doughnut flavors from its menu. Now, Dunkin’ Donuts has decided to slash ten more items from their offerings.

What’s a Dunkin’ devotee to do? The move is a result of the popular chain revamping its image and how it does business. Doughnut lovers have already seen their pickings slim down from 30 to 18, and now they’ll have to get used to more cuts.

This month, customers in New England and upstate New York will see the ten options gone from the menu. By March, the change will be in effect nationwide. This will give many people ample time to hoard or gorge on their favorites. Remember folks: muffins can be frozen!

So, what exactly is being removed? According to Boston.com, you should get ready to bid a teary farewell to these menu items:

  • Turkey Cheddar Bacon Sandwich
  • Ham & Cheddar Sandwich
  • Tuna Salad Sandwich
  • Chicken Salad Sandwich
  • Big N’ Toasted Breakfast Sandwich
  • Angus Steak & Egg Breakfast Sandwich
  • Tropical Mango and Strawberry Banana Smoothies
  • Peach, Caramel, and Mocha unsweetened flavor shots
  • Some optional muffin, bagel and cream cheese selections
  • Flatbread

Food isn’t the only thing they’re busy eliminating either. Earlier this year, the company sent out a press release announcing they will no longer use artificial dyes in their doughnuts. The plan is to discontinue the practice for all menu items by the end of the year.

In addition, you may also notice a slight revision in the signage the next time you visit a store. A new experiment is testing out the idea of “Dunkin’ Donuts” being rebranded as “Dunkin’” in hopes to shift its image from doughnut dealer to a versatile fast food chain that offers more than tasty pastries.

They view it as a wise decision in order to compete with other chains that run the block like Starbucks or McDonald’s. For a business that’s popularized the spelling of doughnut as “donut”, this is major.

Understandably, some longtime customers are not feeling the changes to their breakfast and lunch plans. Already grieving the loss of certain doughnut flavors, they are also going to miss their smoothies and bagels. Watch the video below to hear why Dunkin’ is making all these new changes.

To lessen the blow, the chain has added two new seasonal coffee flavors for your enjoyment: Winter White Chocolate and Buttery Toffee Nut. Also making its official debut to the tea lineup is the Decaf Breakfast Tea, which joined the menu in January. In other good news, Munchkins are here to stay!

On the bright side, at least you’ll always have the smell of sugar wafting through the air to look forward to when you walk through the store’s doors. And, there will still be plenty of reasons for you to visit the place for a hangover cure. Take some comfort in that.
