Maskless Woman Causes a Scene At Trader Joe’s After Employees Ask Her to Leave the Store

At this point in the coronavirus pandemic, most of us aren’t fighting mask policies. Most stores are still requiring people to wear masks upon entry and we understand that not only can wearing a mask help protect our own health but the health of others.

However, there are still those people who refuse to follow mandatory procedures, even during a global health crisis. Case in point: One woman who entered a Trader Joe’s in California without a mask—and refused to put one on.

In a video that captured the incident, the woman aggressively stated that she was harassed to wear a mask by an employee of the store. “I have a breathing problem,” she yelled to the person taking the video. “My doctor will not let me wear a mask. So anyone harassing me to wear a mask, you guys are violating federal law.”

While it hasn’t been stated whether or not that’s true, we do know that there have not been any proven risks to oxygen levels when wearing a face covering. In fact, one doctor recently conducted an experiment to show how wearing masks affects our heart rates and/or oxygen levels, and found it really affects it very little.

In response to the incident, Trader Joe’s issued a statement saying, “It is our preference for and we strongly encourage customers to wear a mask or face covering while shopping in all our stores. Where face coverings are required by state or local authorities, we communicate that to our customers as well.”
