Lindsey Vonn Fires Back After Being Body-Shamed for Bikini Pics(4)

Lindsey Vonn 34, former girlfriend of Tiger Woods, and one of the most decorated professional skiers fires back at body-shamers who mercilessly critique her body. In a body-positive message and moment of raw vulnerability, Vonn takes to Instagram to express her feelings on rampant body shaming:

I’ve posted quite a few swimsuit pics lately, which is scarier than it seems. Even as an athlete there are ruthless comments and media stories that tear apart my body and I admit it sometimes hurts me. I’m a normal person and sometimes I slouch, my stomach folds over, my cellulite shows on my butt, or I don’t fill out my swimsuit top just right….But, I always remember how my body has helped me achieve amazing things in my life and I am proud of how strong I am. I’m not a size zero and that’s perfectly fine with me. One thing I can promise all of you is that I never Photoshop my photos and am proud to officially never had any plastic surgery of any kind. No Botox, no fillers, no mini surgeries. Literally nothing. I am 100% natural and 100% Lindsey. So to anyone who is feeling self conscious or down about their appearance; stay strong, stay healthy and love yourself no matter what the haters say.

Special thanks to all of you who have been positive and supportive… lets keep up the culture of body positivity going!

Vonn highlights some of the hurtful comments that have come her way:

In the same post Vonn shares some of the bikini pics that have come in for scorn. As she mentions in her post she doesn’t use photoshop or air-brushing but instead posts natural photos.

“But, I always remember how my body has helped me achieve amazing things in my life” – We’ll say, Vonn is one of the greatest skiers of all-time. Notice we didn’t say “Female” skiers. Her determination is legendary having won Olympic Gold, four World Cup overall championships, and is one of only six women to have won World Cup races in all five disciplines of alpine skiing just to name a few items on her resume.

Vonn is known to hit the gym hard keeping her body in top shape. I wonder how many body-shamers work out half as hard as Vonn does:

My obliques would be begging for mercy after this workout and she keeps smiling:

Kudos to Vonn for sharing such a body-positive message with everyone. There are always critics and shamers who try to make us feel bad but it’s imperative to always stay grounded and find the beauty in everything including ourselves.
